Last year’s season ended with a total of three wins and five losses and unfortunately our varsity team did not get to states; however, both the coaches and the players are expecting to go to states this year. Key players like seniors Bradley Pierro, Austin Lindsey, Collin Ryan, Jay Wieland, and juniors  Suliman Koraganie, Jimmy Sorto, and Edwin Jovel are expected to get us there. However, Longchamp has said “Everyone has a key role on this team.”

“I want to win states. That’s my expectation right now,” said Sorto.

Sorto, along with sophomore Bret Halsey and senior Dylan Kaesar are preparing themselves prepared to go to states this year. Some players are hoping to achieve beyond that and pursue a professional career in soccer.

“I want to play in college and then try to play professionally,” said Halsey.

Longchamp has already created a plan for the team to try and achieve this goal.

“We are going to do our best to help the guys develop and for them to grow through the course of the season,” said Longchamp.

Longchamp has been coaching for 11 years and in the past few years he has helped coach the basketball team. This is his first official year coaching soccer for Potomac Falls.

“We are building a team with a winning mentality, a team that is going to work hard and play hard for each other,” said Longchamp.

The players are already starting to feel this positive change and are working hard towards their goal “by training hard and practicing and making myself the best I can be,” said Kaesar.

The season has already started with a scrimmage against Woodgrove High School which ended in a tie but things are looking hopeful from there. On Monday March they had a game against Langley High School who was the 6A state champion of last year. Longchamp believes that that game would be “a good barometer for where our guys are and how much they have taken in and what we want to accomplish.”

“In everything that we do, with everyone involved, coaches, managers, players, in everything that we do, we give our best,” said Longchamp. List of games here: http://potomacfallsathletics.org/main/team/id/20897
