Bryce Harper, 23-years-old, is the youngest player in Major League Baseball (MLB) to win Most Valuable Player (MVP) and is near the end of his two year contract with the Washington Nationals. With his contract coming to an end teams are on their feet and ready to offer Harper a contract.

“Every team will be trying sign Harper,” said senior Trent Koerner

The all star, and one of the best players in the MLB,  has a contract that expires in 2018 and the race to sign Harper has already began.

“He’s the best player in the MLB,” said junior Trey St. Francis

Sports analyst are predicting that Harper will be offered the highest paid contract of 400 million making him the paid player of all time. While the Nationals are will trying to re-sign Harper this year, there will be many other teams in the picture even though his contract is yet to expire. General Managers in the MLB are trying to offer Harper the most money possible, but no one is going to be able to keep up with the New York Yankees who will be throwing 600 million dollars on the table to try and sign the MVP.

“ I definitely think he [deserves the highest paid contract] , he’s only 23 and has won MVP and is leading the league homeruns and RBI’s ,”  Koerner

Other teams in the MLB can only talk about these offers they will be giving Harper but, the Nationals are the only team in the MLB who could sign Harper before his contract expires. While National fans are biting their nails waiting to see if Harper will re-sign this year, they already have a head start before any other team can offer the young star.

“I think we will sign with the Nationals,” said St. Francis

Harper has had interview, after interview, after interview about where he might sign and has not talked much about it. Although Harper has only said he “wants to be a National for life,” many analysts think Harper may not re-sign till he can be offered a contract by other Teams in the MLB.

While the anticipation to see where Harper will go starts now, we may need to around and wait, till 2018.

“We should try and re-sign him now, but [Harper] might wait till his contract expires,” said Koerner.
