A humble senior on the track and ultimate frisbee teams, Jaylen Shird plans to take the crown with his charming and funny attitude.

  “I’m just gonna [use] a little bit of jazz hands and dazzle them with my good looks. I don’t really know; I’m just going to do the best I can,” said Shird.

  While he hasn’t finalized the details of his performance, Shird plans to perform stand-up comedy during the talent portion of the competition. He also plans to have his younger sister escort him.

  “She’s super cute, and the judges will love that,” said Shird.

  Even though his outfits and other ideas are still up in the air, Shird says he’ll have his performance ready in time for the show.

Q: What would your DJ name be?

A: “I feel like I’ve thought about this before…it would probably be something simple like DJ J.”

Q: If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

A: “”Everytime We Touch” by Cascada because it’s so hype, and it just puts you in a good mood every time.”

Q: Cats or dogs?

A: “Dogs. I’m allergic to cats.”

Q: Where would your ideal selfie spot be?

A: “I don’t really do selfies, but when I do I guess I do them in my bathroom where I have a mirror. It just works best for me.”

Q: If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?

A: “I want $10 billion for one wish. Second wish: I’d like to be able to fly. Third wish: I’d wish to be invisible.”

Q: What is your weapon of choice to fight a group of ninjas?

A: “A sword for sure, if it’s ninjas [I’m fighting].”

Q: If you could live in one fictional universe what would it be?

A: “I don’t know what fictional universe Dragonball Z is in, or if it’s just earth in another reality, but that’s where I’d want to go.”

A: “NSYNC.”
