Beauty and the Beast Review

Due to a strong, independent, and bright Emma Watson, she was perfectly able to fulfill the role of the classic Disney princess, Belle from the beloved movie Beauty and the Beast. Released on March 16, 2017, not only boys and girls of a young age were able to watch their favorite characters such as Lumiere and Cogsworth as real people, or in their case an exquisitely designed candlestick and clock, but also teenagers and adults were able to embrace their childhood.

“I think they did a really good job adapting it from the cartoon version to the live action one,” said sophomore Robert McNickle.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which portrays the classic characters from the old story, for a current and contemporary audience. All while staying true to the original music, and even throwing in a couple originals.

As if you don’t already know, Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

With an enchanting cast, beautifully crafted songs, and a painterly eye for detail, Beauty and the Beast offers a faithful yet fresh retelling that honors its beloved source material.

What drew many viewers to the live viewing of this movie was the beloved original that had captured so many hearts in 1991 (yeah, I can’t believe it either).

“I definitely saw the movie because of the original, I used to watch it all the time as a kid, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity,” said junior Mara Carillo.

“I always would watch the original Beauty and the Beast as a kid, so I wanted to see if this one would be as good,” said McNickle

As if we weren’t excited enough about the live-action remake of these beloved movies, including Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, and Pete’s Dragon, Disney has recently released that there are at least 17 more stories in the works, to bring people of all ages more live-action remakes of Disney classics. Rumored to be an upcoming performance of Cruella De’Vil, Snow white, and Christopher Robin.

Keep your eye out for these release dates, and make sure to thank the incredible remake of Beauty and the Beast, for making all of our dreams come true.
