Feature Friday was supposed to be a more efficient way of showing all of the school’s announcements. Instead it just became a ten minute long video with loud annoying music, and a way of missing ten minutes of class. Yes feature Friday is more entertaining, but it does not accomplish what it was created to do. Last year’s announcements were boring, but they got the provided the information needed well. The feature Friday has a couple 3-5 second slides with information on it that in reality no one really pays attention to. They either want to see the clips from the football game or other activities going on around the school.

Feature Friday is not the only way the school is trying to communicate with students. The school made a twitter that tweets all the announcements from the school. The twitter idea was a good thought, but it just does not work out very well. While most people have twitter some do not and this does not help them be more informed in any way. As for those students who do have Twitter most will not follow the announcement account anyway. If students do follow the account the account tweets so many thing you will have to scroll for 5 minutes at least to find the information you are looking for.

Last year’s announcements were a lot less entertaining, but they were straight forward and provided students with the information needed. There was no random “games” or events thrown into them. You could so say no one pays attention to those announcements either, but they were better. Those announcements were better because they did not have all the distractions and music. It gave you the information that was needed and you still missed some class time, which is why most people like feature friday more than the announcements of years passed.

The school tried to make announcements more entertaining so the students would pay more attention. However they made the announcements all about entertaining and they lack the most important announcements. When there is an announcement sliding across the screen on friday, it’s either too short to read it or no one is really reading it anyway because of what’s going on in the background. To conclude last year’s announcements were better because it gave the students a higher quality announcement. While neither set of announcements is flawless years passed have been better. Because they get to the point and give you the information you need, not 5 minutes of extra videos that really serve no purpose to most students.
