Meet Jennifer Cavanaugh, the new assistant principal for the 2025 to 2026 school year
Potomac Falls High School (PFHS) is facing several changes for the next school year. After eight years, Principal Brandon Wolfe has accepted a new position as Executive Principal, Alternative Programs within Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), which leaves a spot open for principal, but that is not the only change to the PFHS adminstration team.
PFHS has hired a fourth assistant principal (AP) next year due to the size of its population. For the first time since opening, and with a population nearing 1,700 students, PFHS has aquired Jennifer Cavanaugh to join the current AP team: Rodney Jones, Kenneth Trotman, and Michaela Ottenberg.
Cavanaugh has 16 years of administrative experience in LCPS as she currently serves as an AP at Rock Ridge High School in Asburn. Cavanaugh previously worked as an AP for Broad Run High School for six years, and before becoming an administrator, Cavanaugh taught social studies courses in Prince William County, Fairfax County, and Loudoun County.
Cavanaugh holds a B.A. in history and secondary education from James Madison University, along with a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Virginia. She also earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.
Cavanaugh decided to work for Potomac Falls through word of mouth. “I have heard so many amazing and wonderful things about the Potomac Falls community, staff, and students. It is a school and community rooted in tradition and excellence,” said Cavanaugh.
She is looking forward to the next school year and meeting new students and staff and officially begins her role on July 1. “Building relationships and making connections with the staff, students, and community is very important to me, and I cannot wait to start,” said Cavanaugh.
