1: 2026 is becoming the year of the bunny
Puerto Rican musician, Bad Bunny made history by winning Album of the Year for “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.” This was a monumental achievement for him, as Album of the Year is widely known to be the most competitive award of the night. He is now the first artist to take home a Grammy for an album sung entirely in Spanish. His acceptance speech was a call to action against Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), calling for love and unity to combat violence.
2: Rap is reaching new heights
Bad Bunny wasn’t the only musician of the night to make history. Kendrick Lamar dominated the Grammy’s once again, taking home several awards such as Record of the Year for his song “Luther” featuring SZA and Best Rap Album for GNX. On top of his five Grammy wins in 2025 and his five Grammy wins this year, Lamar now holds the title of the most awarded rapper in Grammy history.
3: Heritage means everything
Best New Artist, another highly competitive award, went to British soul and R&B artist Olivia Dean. Her win was followed by one of the more emotionally charged acceptance speeches of the night where Dean acknowledged her immigrant heritage, stating “I am up here as the granddaughter of an immigrant,” and “we are nothing without each other.” Her meaningful speech would go on to mirror Bad Bunny’s later on in the night.
4: Air Sabrina (Literally?)
A performance from Sabrina Carpenter never disappoints and this year was no exception. Carpenter took the audience on an immersive experience through the airport as she performed ‘Manchild.’ Her stage presence has been incredibly creative recently, and she was sure to bring that creativity onto the Grammy’s stage. Carpenter even brought out a live dove to fly across the crowd and perch upon her finger to close out the song. This decision of hers has received a mixed bag of opinions however the doves handler has stated, “[she] is perfectly fine.”
5: Bold fashion. Maybe a little too bold?
Pop star, Chappell Roan turned heads as she walked the red carpet with possibly the most revealing look the Grammy’s has ever seen. Her look was a custom made, burgundy gown by Mugler inspired by the trends of the 1990’s with a…shocking twist. Roan later explained that she found the gown to be “awesome and weird” and “not that outrageous” though many viewers would disagree. One thing is for sure though, this bold look from Roan definitely got people talking.
6: ICE OUT!
Bad Bunny and Olivia Dean weren’t the only artists of the night to make political statements regarding recent ICE activity. Both Billie Eilish and Kehlani had something to say as well. Several artists chose to convey their thoughts through their clothing rather than spoken words. Lady Gaga, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Jack Antanoff, Heyley Williams, and Samara Joy were all seen sporting small white pins in support of cultural unity.
