Junior Abby Firsching has planned to run for senior class treasurer. She plans to get the senior class more involved in activities throughout the year.

Rising senior Abby Firsching has many fresh and new ideas to bring to the 2014-2015 school year. She plans on getting all the seniors involved in activities throughout the year and making senior year a good one for everyone. Firsching is on the Junior Advisory Board this year and feels that she has enough experience to handle that responsibilities that comes with being the senior class treasurer. She enjoys singing, reading, and playing piano in her free time. Firsching looks forward to being your senior class treasurer.

Q&A with Abby Firsching:

1.Why do you want to run for this position?

“I feel like I can handle the responsibilities of treasurer because I’m involved in other things. Being president would be too much responsibility for me to handle so I think I picked a good position for what I can manage.”

2.What do you plan to do if you win?

“If I win I plan to put forward as much energy as I can into helping out the senior class with like the homecoming hallway.”

3.What are some new idea you have for next year?

“Just getting more of the senior involved in things and activities. From what I’ve seen from my three years here, it seems that not a lot of seniors help out because senior just want to get out and go to college. I want to make sure that everyone is involved as much as possible. The senior advisory board is a good idea but it should be opened up to other people like volunteer opportunities that the seniors are sponsoring.

4.Why should people vote for you?

“People should vote for me because I was in JAB this year and I went to every meeting and I did as much as I could to help out. I’m good at managing my time and I listen to other people’s ideas and have an open mind.”

5.What makes you qualified to run for office?

“I think I’m qualified to run for office because, like I said, I was in JAB so I know how much work there is with homecoming and I understand the responsibility better than other people because they might have not been in JAB. I understand that this is an important thing and that senior year needs to be great for everyone. I take that to heart because I want my senior year to be great.”

6.What are your favorite hobbies?

“I love to sing, I play piano, I read a lot.”

7.Who is your role model? Why?

“I would probably say J.K. Rowling because she was living off of welfare with a child all on her own and she was turned down by many publishers for her first book, the first Harry Potter book, because she was a woman but, she overcame that, that really inspires me. We still face things like sexism today and for me to be able to run for office is a great thing that we have.”

8.What is your favorite subject and why?

“Probably history because I like looking back at what has happened before and how we’ve grown as a culture. Also with politics, it is interesting to see what we’ve tried out and see what hasn’t worked. It is really fascinating to see how we have developed and who we are today.”

9. If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“I think I’d be a cat because cats are very stealthy and they can also live inside and outside, so I wouldn’t be restricted to one or the other. Cats are just great.”
