Freshman Sukhan Azhar has planned to run for class office for her sophomore year. Inspired by her sister, Azhar has big plans to help the new sophomore class.

Sukhan Azhar, currently a freshman, is running for sophomore class secretary. After seeing her sister as a DECA officer, she decided that she wanted to get involved in a school-related leadership position as well. She hopes to give the class leadership to help reverse a historic trend of poor participation and school spirit amongst the sophomore classes. She wants to win all the pep rallies and all the school spirit days.

Q&A with Sukhan Azhar:

1. What valuable lesson have you learned your first year of high school?

– “The value of competition among classes. I’ve never been an environment like a pep rally, so I definitely understand two competitive students are at our school.”

2. What teacher are you most similar to, and why?

– “I think I’m similar to Mrs. [Leah] Andary. She’s really nice and works really hard, two things I hope and strive to be.”

3. Be educated or be wealthy?

– “I’d rather be educated. Then, hopefully later on, I could become wealthy.”

4. What is your favorite class?

– Math, more specifically geometry. I like doing math and working out problems, and I’m pretty good at it, too.

5. Who’s your favorite singer?

– “Hoodie Allen.”

6. What is your favorite restaurant?

– “Chipotle.”

7. What is your favorite movie?

– “Tangled, it’s like Rapunzel, but modern.”
