Winter Sports Preview: Boys Basketball

Expectations for this year’s team

As most people know, Potomac Falls is predominantly a basketball school. Each season comes in with high expectations, but different stories. This year’s focus is about building experience and skill vacated  by the transfer of athletes to other schools.

“We’re a lot younger this year,” said junior guard, Jack Mologne, “ we only have two seniors on the team, so we have to find new leadership.”

With two starters transferring to private schools, the point guard and the center are positions that need to be filled.

“We got a lot of guys who are going to need to step up for us this year,” said coach Jeff Hawes, “guys like Dondrea Tillman, Danny Cox, and Jack Mologne”.

In terms of team philosophy, the offense is going to be much more team-oriented.

“Since we lost A.J. and Andrew, we’re going to have to include all five players more often,” said junior forward Dondrea Tillman, “I personally have to get more rebounds and get my shooting percentage up”.

Some key games this season are going to be the home game against Dominion on Tues. Dec. 16 at 7:30 P.M., home against Tuscarora on Tues. Jan. 13 at 7:15 P.M., and at Tuscarora on Tues. Feb. 3rd at 7:15 P.M.

With a couple of new faces to the varsity team such as Nolan Becker and Collin Ryan, be prepared for the offense to flow more cohesively and incorporate all five guys on the court  throughout the season, but expect the Panthers to be competitive as usual.
