Fall Wrap Up: Cheer Leading

The cheer team competed at four competitions this year. Twenty people were on the varsity team including one boy. The best performance they had was at the Conference 14 Meet on Thursday October 23. The team practiced and competed with one routine; the same routine was performed at the pep rallies. They didn’t place in the top three this year, but Ms. Keller hopes to use off-season practice to get better results from the team. The team captains this year were seniors Jennifer Sanchez and Alyssa Motheral.

“We had a lot of new people, so it was really hard to compete well with the other really good teams who had really strong member [since] forever, but I feel like we did the best we could,” said Motheral. Even though they didn’t win any competitions, they gained experience and hope to use to their advantage when competing next season.

“I enjoyed the bonding experience with all the different girls we had. Overall we clicked as a whole,” said Sanchez.

The team was improved as they went through the season, learning to coordinate with each other according to the team captains. Junior Brooke Levine won the coach’s award for her performance this season.

“I was very proud of myself and I felt accomplished and felt like I helped the team,” said Levine.
