A New Look Spaghetti Dinner

The Class of 2015 prepares for a festive charity dinner

The Senior Advisory Board (SAB) is known around the school for events such as hallway decorating and helping with the Panther Project. For one night, Senior Advisory Board members will become waiters, waitresses, hosts, and hostesses. On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Senior Class is putting on the annual Spaghetti Dinner. Although the Spaghetti Dinner is a staple of nearly every senior class at Potomac Falls, the Class of 2015 is poised on delivering a different experience this year.

Last year, the Class of 2014 had proceeds from raffle baskets go towards various aspects of their Panther Project, such as Backpack Buddies assembly at a local church. This year, the Class of 2015 will have proceeds from the entrance fees all go to the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation. For the class sponsors, Mr. Ryan Khatcheressian and Mrs. Martha Ryman, and SAB members, it was a logical choice.

“Part of [Green]’s memory is his service as a model student in our school. He is remembered helping out at his class’ Spaghetti Dinner. We’re trying to honor him,” said Khatcheressian.

With such a worthy cause to come to the Spaghetti Dinner, there is much anticipation for the crowd coming on Thursday night. The class officers anticipate more people coming, from all around the community, this year than in years past.

“Since all of the money is going to the Douglas J. Green Memorial foundation, we expect about 400-500 people. We usually get a big showing from the seniors and their parents. It’s a big event,” said senior class treasurer Luke Borman.

This year’s Spaghetti Dinner will also be different in that there is scheduled entertainment. The Senior Class has hired a professional accordion player to provide entertainment for the guests.

“The accordion player knows over 100 songs, and he takes requests. He can also accompany anyone who wants to sing along. We’re trying to make it a more festive event,” said Khatcheressian.

Along with the live music, this year’s Spaghetti Dinner will have improved, legitimate Italian decor as well a higher quality of Italian food. The waiters and waitresses are said to be wearing mustaches and upscale hats to improve the dining experience. Overall, the Senior Class intends to show guests a dining experience while raising money for a good cause.

The Spaghetti Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, in the cafeteria.
