Few teams can claim as much success as the swim team has the past four years. After going undefeated in conference play for four straight years, the team finally earned a state championship from senior, William Lin.

“It felt amazing finally getting the state title,” said Lin, “it’s been a long four years, but have also been really satisfying”.

He not only won the 500 freestyle, but placed second in the 200 freestyle, and second in the both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Lin’s abilities in the pool will transfer to college as he will be taking his talents to Cornell University.

“I’m definitely excited to swim there. The competition is going to go way up so I’ll be forced to get a lot better.

While Lin won states and had a largely successful year, he was not alone in placing at states. Senior Vince Morocco placed third in the 50 freestyle.

The swim team is going to have to reload talent for next because of the seniors that are leaving. Among Lin and Morocco, other seniors that are leaving are Justin Touve, Luke Borman, Sam McLean, Illya Ovchynnikov, Teddy Hennessey, John Deker, and Daniel Zhang.

“When we leave, I really hope that the guys can keep up our tradition of winning,” said Lin. While possible, it is going to be a challenge to keep up the perfect record attained by the seniors of the last four years.
