Field Hockey Game 8/22
In Potomac Falls’ first official field hockey game against Dominion High School, the girls came away with a 2-1 victory. This historic game marks what will hopefully be a successful season for the Panthers. Abby Asuncion scored the first goal of the game nine minutes in off of a penalty corner. This was the only corner Potomac Falls could get a goal from despite having 17 total corners throughout the game.
Both teams continued to play with ferocity, but neither could get the ball into the goal until eight minutes into the second half. Dominion’s Jordan Pourhashemi brought them back into the game, tying the score 1-1 with over 20 minutes left in the second half.
After being scored on, Potomac Falls played with a renewed intensity, but were unable to put the ball in the back of the goal. Then, with only nine minutes remaining, Serena Farmer scored the game winning goal with an assist from Nathalie Groot.
Potomac Falls mostly dominated the final moments of the game, but Dominion fought valiantly to tie the score again. They were unable to do so and Potomac Falls celebrated their first win of the season against their rival school.
