Writing down names for the Homecoming committee, Ryan is committed to getting others involved not only in our school, but in the community as well.

From being a varsity runner for the cross country team, to four advanced placement classes, being a Link Crew Captain and now the Community Outreach Liaison for the school’s Student Council Association, junior Lisa Ryan certainly has her hands full for the 2016-2017 school year. Ryan’s
freshman year, she was the class secretary, and last year she was the class president, so she is no stranger to being a leader and getting things done.

“I love talking to people and getting others involved, which is very helpful for the Community Outreach Liaison position. I also have many ideas of how to get more than just the student body involved,” said Ryan.

Everyone knows that junior year is certainly the hardest throughout high school, but Ryan feels very confident that she is ready to take on the many jobs that being a SCA officer entails.

“Personally, I work much better on a tight schedule because it forces me to do my work and not leave any time to procrastinate,” said Ryan.

Q: You ran for Secretary but won Community Outreach Liaison, how do you feel about this?

A: Although I didn’t win my election, I was still super excited to be able to be a part of SCA and I know that Charlie [Groscup], who did win the election was a great candidate and would do an amazing job, so I was very happy for him. I love being community outreach liaison and I’m happy I get to work with the rest of SCA this school year.

Q: What does the position Community Outreach Liaison entail?

A: The community outreach liaison is in charge of speaking to people outside of our immediate school and student body to help get them involved and informed. One job that I have done this year that was specifically community outreach was talking in a connectEd call that was sent to every rising freshman and their parents. I talked about the new Link Crew program and the orientation day that we had in August.

Q: Why did you run your junior year as a opposed to senior year?

A: I wanted to get involved with SCA before my senior year because I was really interested and felt ready to add the commitment to my schedule. I am loving it so far and I think it was a perfect decision to run this year. I’m happy I get to work with some of the current seniors before they graduate.

Q: What do you like most about SCA?

A: My favorite part of SCA so far is seeing our work come together and knowing the background to all of our projects. Everyday with SCA while we plan our events, we are always laughing and making the best of the most stressful situations. It’s a ton of fun.

Q: What do you like least?

A: My least favorite part of SCA is the lack of sleep. There are many mornings that we have to come to school extremely early, and even more nights that we have stay extra late. But no matter the countless hours we put into these events, it is always so rewarding to see the event actually come together and see all the students and faculty enjoy it.

Q: Do you enjoy working with the other members of SCA?

A: I love working with the other people on SCA. Everyone there is always laughing and we all get along really well. Even if we are literally stapling papers, SCA manages to make it fun and enjoyable.
