Q&A with Brittany Schlosberg

Q: What’s it like being Creative Director of SCA?

A: “It’s so much fun! In my opinion I get to do all the fun stuff like design the layout for the homecoming dance and help contribute ideas to the other SCA projects.”

Q: What made you decide to run for Creative Director?

A: “I decided to run for Creative Director because I wanted to make a difference in the school and help contribute to school events like homecoming and tailgates. I’ve always loved doing artistic activities, being a part of what the school has to offer, and planning stuff, so it just felt right. I also knew many of the other officers running and knew it was also gonna be a great group of people to work with.”

Q: What else do you do at the school besides SCA?

A: “I’m Treasurer in Key club, VP in Molecular Gastronomy club, President of DRC, in Best Buddies, National Art Honor Society, run [Cross Country] in the fall, and play tennis in the spring. The school offers so many great clubs and I’m glad I get to be a part of them.”

Q: What’s it like working with your sister, Caitlin, on SCA?

A: “We actually work really well together. She helps me a lot with my projects, and reminds me about important dates and stuff. It’s a fun experience doing SCA with her and I’m used to being around her a lot and dealing with her weirdness for long periods of time, we both even do [Cross Country] and are a part of a lot of the same clubs.”

Q: What do you as SCA Creative Director?

A: “As Creative Director, my main job is homecoming: the layout, the decorations, [and] the vision, with the help of my partner, Lisa [Ryan, SCA Community Outreach Liaison] . I also am in charge of teacher appreciation, not just for teacher appreciation week, but the whole school year. For that project I created a little sharpie gift that said ‘Mark my words.. It’s going to be a great year!’ and put it in their mailboxes the second week of school!”

Q: What made you pick the homecoming theme?

A: “It wasn’t just my decision, but rather [SCA] as a whole who voted for it to be the theme. But I just loved Dr. Seuss because it was wacky and silly and all the colors are so bright that I knew it would be fun to decorate for homecoming with it.”

Q: What ideas do you have for homecoming?

A: “Lisa [Ryan] and I came up with the idea that we could transform the school hallways into several Dr. Seuss books that you could walk through. Some of the ideas include kites [or] hot air balloons hanging from the ceiling and lots and lots of tissue paper poofs! Lisa also wanted to use real fish for One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, but we will have to see about that.”

Q: How do you think the pep rally went?

A: “I think the students and staff had a great time despite the technical difficulties. The synchronized swimming game was one of my favorites in particular, and I think everyone enjoyed watching their friends and teachers hop around the gym and then get judged by teachers!”

Q: What do you plan to do to improve the pep rallies throughout the year?

A: “Dede [Gilmore], Charlie [Groscup], and Anthony [Lopresti] are the real masterminds behind the pep rallies because it is their assigned project, but I plan to help them with whatever they might need help with.”

Q: Is there anything else you would like to tell me?

A: “Everyone reading this should go to homecoming [on October 16th]!”
