Twitter calls Chris Pratt ‘the worst Chris’ due to his alleged support of Donald Trump

You might know him from Jurassic World, or maybe you remember his role in Parks and Recreation.  Along with Marvel co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, and Star Trek’s Chris Pine, he also fits in as just another “Hollywood Chris”. You’re probably asking, who is this? Well, that’d be American actor Chris Pratt, known largely for playing Peter Quill, or Star-Lord, in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

This past weekend, Chris Pratt experienced a social media blast due to his announced absence from a virtual fundraiser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. The fundraiser was set to include Pratt’s fellow Marvel co-stars: Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, and Zoe Saldana, as well as directors, Anthony and Joseph Russo. After Pratt’s absence from the fundraiser was announced, many fans took it upon themselves to assume that this meant Pratt is secretly supporting President Donald Trump.

Following these allegations, a four-split photo of Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine, and Chris Evans was shared on twitter by TV writer Amy Berg. The picture was captioned, “One has to go,” and the tweet went viral. A large number of twitter users said Pratt should be titled “Hollywood’s worst Chris” mainly because of his unconfirmed support of President Donald Trump.

One user replied to Amy Berg’s tweet saying, “Chris Pratt. Sadly the Trump supporter stuff disqualifies him despite all of the delightful Andy Dwyer/Johnny Karate/Bert Macklin glory.”

Another user replied, “Dammit, I am literally just finding out that Chris Pratt is a trump supporter, and I am so messed up behind that.”

The tweets continued, although many of them have no proof corroborating the claim that Chris Pratt is a Trump supporter. This twitter episode however, is not the first time Pratt was under social media scrutiny.

In the past, Chris Pratt received loads of hate and criticism for his Christian faith, but mainly for the church he attends. In Los Angeles, Pratt attends Zoe Church. The church is infamously against the LGBTQ+ community. Pratt has denied the allegations numerous times, writing on instagram, “Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”

Despite this post from Feb 2019, twitter continued to bring it up, and use it to support their claims that Chris Pratt “has to go”.

Following the accusations that Chris Pratt is “Hollywood’s worst Chris”, many celebrities and people close to Pratt have publicly come out to defend him. MCU co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr tweeted out in support of their friend.

“What a world… The ‘sinless’ are casting stones at my brother, Chris Pratt…,” Downey wrote in acknowledgement of Pratt. “A real Christian who lives by principle, has never demonstrated anything but positivity and gratitude… AND he just married into a family that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value.”

“If you take issue with Chris… I’ve got a novel idea,” he continued. “Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness… @prattprattpratt I #gotyerbackback,” tagging Chris Pratt and using the hashtag to show his gratitude.

Mark Ruffalo also added a few thoughts writing, “You all, @prattprattpratt is as solid a man there is. I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political; as a rule. This is a distraction. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.”

Social media users however, were upset and still had many not-so-positive things to say in response.

Fans pointed out that the support Pratt received is nothing like Zendaya, Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson, and others received. One fan wrote, “Let me get this right. Brie Larson was harassed by men for MONTHS. Zendaya was bullied for being MJ bc she’s biracial, Mackie was bullied for becoming Captain America and the Avengers were SILENT, but Chris Pratt gets called the ‘worst’ Chris and it’s Avengers Assemble?”

Pratt, MCU stars, and the other Chrises have not yet weighed in on the matter.
