College Visits: A Q&A With Four Students

College, the only talk of conversation going on right now, no way to escape it, the time is now; the stress of college applications is filling everyone’s head. At PFHS, college is coming to you. Get the inside scoop from college advisors on what the school is all about. Now is your time for them to get to know you. Where are you going to end up? 

Q: WHY DO YOU HAVE INTEREST IN THIS SCHOOL?

Lauren Prattis: “I plan to major in political science with a concentration in legal studies. American University is in the heart of Washington DC, the internship opportunities are endless. About 90% of graduates get some form of political internships in their last two years, and these internships can lead to a lifelong career.  I also plan to study abroad, and there are several programs connected to American universities across the globe.”

Q: HOW WAS THIS COLLEGE MEETING FOR YOU?

LP: “It was really informative. Since it was a small group of people, I had the opportunity to ask the representative all of the questions I had.”

Q: WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU LEARNED FROM THE MEETING?

LP: “I learned more about the specific study abroad opportunities that I would get if I applied to the school of policy and government, and the representative talked about all of the professors and their qualifications.”

 

Q: WHY DO YOU HAVE INTEREST IN THIS SCHOOL?

Tyler Flynn: “I have an interest in this school because my sister goes to VT and after we visited her for the Notre Dame game, I knew that this school had the perfect environment for me.”

Q: HOW WAS THIS COLLEGE MEETING FOR YOU?

TF: “This college meeting was very interesting to me as I learned about what to do and what not to do when applying to the school.”

Q: WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU LEARNED FROM THE MEETING?

TF: “One thing I learned from the meeting is that my SAT score will most likely not be required when I apply to VT.”

 

Q: WHY DO YOU HAVE INTEREST IN THIS SCHOOL?

Mark Delaney: “I had interest in this school because I was looking for a bigger school and a school with a good athletic program. As I was doing research I found Tennessee and realized it could be a school for me. The drive wasn’t that bad either so that’s why I was interested in Tennessee.”

Q: HOW WAS THIS COLLEGE MEETING FOR YOU?

MD: “The meeting was great. I really got a better understanding of what Tennessee was like. Because of Tennessee I have been to a bunch of all college meetings.”

Q: WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU LEARNED FROM THE MEETING?

MD: “I learned a lot about Tennessee because of this meeting. Everything from how to apply, how big the college is, and the majors. She also stated cool facts like they make the campus feel smaller and the huge football stadium.”

 

Q: WHY DO YOU HAVE INTEREST IN THIS SCHOOL?

Jessica Hartung: “I’ve been interested in JMU ever since I went to my first parade of champions in eighth grade, and I got to see the marching royal dukes. Since then I’ve looked into their academics and I really like the majors they have to offer and the community around the school.”

Q: HOW WAS THIS COLLEGE MEETING FOR YOU?

JH: “The college meeting was pretty helpful because I got to ask questions and hear questions that I hadn’t thought about from my peers. It was cool being able to talk to the person who is going to be reading our applications for the school.”

Q: WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU LEARNED FROM THE MEETING?

JH: “In the meeting I learned that JMU is ranked #1 in Virginia for employment out of college. I found that really interesting because it’s reassuring that I will most likely have a job out of college if I go to JMU.”
