Don’t Worry Darling Premiere and Drama- Should Fans Worry?
Film critics, Harry Styles Fans, and Movie Lovers Worried on The State Of Don’t Worry Darling.
Don’t Worry Darling, the long awaited psychological thriller starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, has left fans worried. Many people were drawn to the film because of the impressive celebrity cast, Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, director Olivia Wilde, alongside the flashy trailers released earlier this year. With the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Sep. 5, fans anticipating the film were shocked at the behavior of the cast. Allegations of an affair, intoxicated actors attending the premiere, and Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine? Why is there so much drama surrounding the cast?
Styles and Wilde’s Love Affair:
Although the public doesn’t know all the details, it can be assumed through Styles’ lyrics and paparazzi pictures that he and Wilde were at some point a couple. In styles’ newest album, titled Harry’s House, he supposedly sings multiple songs about Wilde. On songs “Cinema” and “Late Night Talking” Styles sings “I dig your cinema” and “Stub your toe, or break your camera,” leading many Styles fans to believe they’ve been written about Wilde. The two have been spotted together many times holding hands in New York and kissing in Loudon. The Wilde and Styles entanglement reportedly started before Wilde and Ted Lasso star, Sudeikis officially separated. This messy love triangle between Styles, Wilde, and Jason Sudeikis has been extremely public. Wilde and Sudeikis have two children, and are currently in the process of separating. The first visible cracks in the production of the film were Styles and Wilde’s alleged affair. Little details are known about when the relationship started on set, however Sudeikis’ feelings were known publicly when he served classified papers regarding their custody battle while she was on stage for Warner Bros at CinemaCon.
“Jason’s actions were clearly intended to threaten me and catch me off guard. He could have served me discreetly, but instead he chose to serve me in the most aggressive manner possible,” Wilde claims in her court filing per Daily Mail. However Sudeikis retorted he is deeply apologetic for this moment per Daily Mail, “Olivia’s talk was an important event for Olivia, both professionally and personally, and I am very, very sorry that the incident marred her special moment.” Unfortunately, the behind the camera struggles only become more of a spectacle from here.
Styles’ Spat On Chris Pine?
The internet has gone into a craze over whether Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival. One clip of Styles “spitting” on Chris Pine has over 5.5 million views.
Both representatives of Styles and Pine have denied this stating, “This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation.” Despite both actors denying this story, the accusations brought to light some of Styles’ strange behavior at the Festival. Some claimed Styles looked high during interviews, stating he looks disheveled and speaks very slowly. However it’s important to note he’s been touring for several weeks, and most likely jet lagged from flying to Venice for the Film Festival.
Wilde and Pugh’s messy relationship
Despite the messy production of the film, the most speculated controversy surrounding Don’t Worry Darling is Wilde and Pugh’s work relationship. Rumors of Wilde’s unprofessionalism have run rampant online. Some sources claim Wilde showed up late to set, or not at all. These inside sources also claim Wilde and Pugh have had “tense conversations” on set. Though there’s no proof of this, Wilde and Pugh don’t seem very warm and fuzzy. Despite Pugh’s status as lead woman, she only attended the red carpet event, avoiding press altogether. Pugh has posted very little about the film on her social media, which has added fuel to the already burning fire. When asked about Pugh’s absence at the Venice Film Festival Wilde dodged the question, “Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she’s able to make it tonight despite being in production on ‘Dune.’”
Before Styles was cast as leading man Jack, Shia LaBoeuf was considered for his role. Following FKA Twigs’ assault allegations against LaBoeuf, Wilde stated LaBoeuf was fired for his combative nature on set, along with Pugh uncomfortable with his presence. LaBoeuf responded by releasing a video of Wilde pleading with him to work on the film. In this video LaBoeuf released Wilde refers to Florence Pugh as “Miss Flo” which some have seen as condescending.
Although there seems to be conflict behind the scenes, many premiere attendees at the Venice Film Festival praised the film, as it received a five minute ovation. The question of whether the film has been tainted by the off camera conflict remains to be seen. With the Sept. 23 release date, the public will have an answer soon.
