SCA Vice President Blane Hornung poses with the Statue of Liberty, showing his obvious enthusiasm for architecture. Hornung said that winning Mr. PFHS would mean a legacy worthy enough for the history books and a trip to Disney World.

Usually on a spirit day, you can expect to see two things: outrageous costumes and Blane Hornung participating with the intention of wearing the least amount of clothing possible, as exemplified from the time he wore a toga on Throwback Thursday and booty shorts for Country Day. Hornung is most known for being on SCA as the school’s Vice President, as well as being a part of the morning announcements. Hornung is also a four year member in what he calls “The best sport in the school,” baseball.

Other than the obvious interest, Hornung considers himself the next Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother. Architecture is something Hornung wants to pursue because it gives him a chance to change the world “one building at a time.” Hornung also calls himself a ladies man, saying his ideal date would be taking the perfect girl to the rooftop of his bachelor pad, have a romantic candle and starlit picnic with his world famous lobster and scallop linguine alfredo while watching her favorite Disney classic under the stars.

Hornung is convinced he has what it takes to win Mr. PFHS because he is “a dashing young gentleman who has fantastic talent, the best escort [Social Science teacher Mrs. Jennifer High], and is sure to wow the audience with my bodacious act.”

Hornung has already planned out his Mr.  PFHS winning celebration.

“I’d go to Disney World to celebrate and then probably go to school the next day, dreading everything about it and wishing I was in college, having a grand ole time,” said Hornung.

Q & A with Blane Hornung:

Q:  If you were a song, what song would you be?

A:  “‘Milkshake’ by Kelis.”

Q:  If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

A:  “It would definitely be a person that is alive because I wouldn’t want to sit with a dead person; that would be weird.  It would probably be someone that’s cool and has a sense of humor.  Also maybe a well respected architect who could give me a few pointers about the profession and how to be successful.”

Q:  Who is your spirit animal?

A:  “Andrew Gillis because he is so supple and charming.”

Q:  If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?

A:  “At the moment I would probably go to the Republic of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.  I would get my tan on, enjoy some quiet beautiful beaches, have my toes in the water, a** in the sand, not a worry in the world, and a cold beer in my hand.  Wise words of Zac Brown.”

Q:  If you found a magic lamp with a genie that would grant you three wishes, what would you wish for?

A:  “My dream girl, be a dog whenever I want, and world peace.”

Q:  Which teacher can you relate to / made an impact on you?

A:  “Frau Hershman is like my third ‘oma.’  I have had her all four years, and she’ll leave the biggest impact on me with wonderful words of wisdom.”

Q:  Harry Styles or Liam Payne?

A:  “Harry Styles.”

Q:  Do you think you have left a legacy at PFHS?

A:  “Well, when I accept my crown as Mr.  PFHS, I will no doubt have a legacy at Potomac Falls and will go down in the history books.”

Q:  What mythological creature would you be?

A:  “A unicorn because they’re beautiful.”

Q:  Who is your mancrush?

A:  “Kevin Ryan because he is like the hottest guy ever.  Like, OMG!  This picture got me going.”
