Matthew Wajsgras outruns his competition. As captain of the boys’ team, he said he looked forward to “going to meets and spending time with the team every day.”

The track and field team is looking forward to a great season under coach Kevin Richards in his second year as head coach at Potomac Falls.  There will be 10 regular season meets (four conference dual meets and and six invitationals).  Then, there will be three post-season meets for conference, regionals, and states.

Outside of these post-season meets, the team will attend the Handley Invitational in mid-April.

“My goal for this season is to contend for a conference title on both the girls’ and boys’ teams,” said coach Richards.

The captains of the boys’ team are senior Matthew Wajsgras and senior John Deker, and the captains of the girls’ team are senior Caroline Ritchey and junior Pamela Cortez.

“I hope to break a school record,” said Wajsgras.

The team expects major contributions from junior Natalie Clemm.

“I’m looking forward to improving my times,” said Clemm, “and I hope we can get all six relays into states.”  The team is working hard for a successful, record-breaking season.
