With the melting of snow comes the beginning of spring sports and the end of winter sports.  The Potomac Falls girls’ gymnastics team last competed in regionals, which was one of the main goals the team had set from the start of the season.

“Everyone brought out their best routines and did as well as they could.  We ended up exceeding what we were expecting, especially with states.  We did expect at least one of us to go to states, but we didn’t expect three of us to go,” said junior Alyssa Del Prete.

As a whole, Del Prete calls gymnastics a big part of her life, and she was excited for the team to go to regionals and to compete in states herself.  The team improved their skills, and they hope to keep improving and sharpen up their technique next season.

“In the beginning we weren’t really sure of what we could do, but as the season went on, we kept winning and doing really well in the meets. Our team was motivated to work harder, learn new skills, and push the limits.  Our team got better, and I got better as an individual gymnast,” said Del Prete.

Key players on the team include freshman Morgan Morrocco, who was awarded Most Valuable Player at the gymnastics banquet, sophomore Jordan Smith, and junior Mela Coffey.
