Spring Sports Preview: Girls’ Varsity Softball

A closer look at this year’s girls’ Varsity softball team

This year’s softball team is preparing for an exciting season up ahead. With their first game approaching, the teammates are hoping to bring a win and start the season off right. This is a great goal to strive for, which would help the team take the first step forward in improving the their 7-14 record from last year.

“I thought last year was good for our team overall. There [are] things we could have done better, but this year, we’re working hard, and I think we’ll improve,” said sophomore Peggy Tuma.

Already, teammates are formulating goals and planning for what the upcoming season may bring.

“[My goals are] to do the best that I can, try my hardest, [and] learn more about the game,” said freshman Abigail Suchoski. “[I’m looking forward to] learning more about my teammates and coaches.”

Tuma also weighed in on her goals for this year.

“I want to get a hit at every game, have our team play cleanly, and not make a lot of errors.”

Another thing on the athletes’ minds are the fun team-bonding activities of the softball season.

“My favorite part is how the team feels after a win–  how we’re all excited and happy with how we played,” said Tuma.

“Another thing we do is that on weekend practices, and sometimes during the week, we go out to eat after[wards]. We [also] have pasta parties before a game,” said Tuma.

Key Games this season will be against:

Dominion at home on March 16 at 6 p.m.

Stone Bridge at home on April 28 at 6 p.m.

The team will take on the Loudoun County Raiders today at 6 p.m.
