Fallowing the trend

Fashion week and this season’s latest styles

Fall is more than just going back to school, it is also about the fashion. Fashion week is considered a staple of September by the fashion world. Designers from all over the world come together to show off this season’s latest styles at Fashion week.

During  the month of September all the fashion capitals of the world host a fashion week where top labels, as well as up and coming designers, showcase their latest designs. The New York, London, and Milan fashion weeks have already passed, but keep an eye out for the trends displayed at the Paris (September 24- October 2) fashion week. The industries top designers, such as Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren, have all been showing this season’s hottest trends including bold colors and prints. “A designer I really like is Anna Sui,” said junior Lidia Veliaminova, “her designs are really original and during New York fashion week all the prints were amazing. I loved the colors.”

The runways of fashion week have been showcasing all of this year’s fall trends. Some styles that are in this season are layering, high boots, bold color blocking, green and grey fabrics, sweaters, and beanies. However, new trends are not limited to just women’s fashion. “Some of the clothes I like to wear are things from Brooks Brothers, slacks, shep shirt pull overs, and Columbia parkas,” said senior Brendon Del Prete. To keep on top of the latest trends, you have to have the right information. “I read a lot of fashion magazines and watch shows like E! News to keep updated on trends,” said sophomore Becca Besserer.  Magazines such as Teen Vogue and Seventeen, TV shows like Fashion Police and Project Runway, and online fashion blogs like Keiko Lynn and Karla’s Closet are the best ways to keep up with the latest fads and what your favorite celebrities are wearing.

Where someone shops is also important to looking fashionable this fall. “I like to shop at American Eagle,” said freshman Collin Williams, “they have a good selection of clothes.” Other stores students seem to enjoy are Forever 21, Vineyard Vines, Kohls, and Nordstrom.
